Interviews with attendees at Beck’s picnic

Honesty, anger, and profound ignorance.

The price of ignorance

These images leave one torn between laughter and despair. The woman at the top establishes the principle: Ignorance really is dangerous. And of course it’s especially piquant that a teabagger is saying this via a sign that demonstrates her own ignorance:

The next guy’s sign is so ignorant as to be baffling. Granted, that the letters following “CONG” are hidden doesn’t help. Still, what might the word be? “Congo” makes no sense. Is there room for “Congress.” Congress owns slaves?

Is it “SLAVE OWNER TAXPAYER = NIGGAR [Sic]”? Or should the difference in color lead one to understand “TAXPAYER = NIGGAR”? And the assumption is that all slaves are Black? And all Blacks are Niggers?

In many ways, this is the most interesting ass-showing “sign.” The guy makes assertions that suggest he is educated and informed, not ignorant. But then he misspells “Mauritania”!

Who put such words in the mouth (on the teeshirt) of this Koch brothers/Rupert Murdoch puppet? And what are the odds this guy could look at a world map or globe and point immediately to Mauritania or Niger?

A great response to Rush Limbaughs attack on non-profits

Take bag *WHAT* America, teabagger?

Billo-KK-1

Bill O’Reilly goes after yet another young woman!!

The Headline of the post on Huff-Po is ambiguous and misleading, as the heads on their posts so often are. I had a clue what to expect (that O’Reilly had trashed Kim Kardashian on his show). Nevertheless, I really was transported back to hilariously clumsy documentary evidence from Makris’s sexual harassment suit against Billo. Settled out of court, but still embarrassingly funny. Especially infamous is his having confused “luffah” with “falafel.” A truly contemptible person, our Billo!

Is Mitch McConnell *really* a Christian?

Asked about it, Mitch McConnell said he takes Obama at his word when he says he’s a Christian. I got to thinking about it, and wondered why the question might not be reversed. Thus the cartoon below.

Really, though, this is no laughing matter. This is a terrible, terrible campaign to undermine our system of government. You can’t actually prove any one or more gods exist. So how can you prove that person X or Y really worships this god/these gods that may or may not exist? How can you prove that you yourself worship such god/gods?

You can’t. That’s why it’s called faith. Anything person A can do with honesty and true devotion, person B can do with deceit and pretended devotion.

In a sense, then, the words McConnell spoke are accurate. You have to take a person at her or his word. But the way McConnell spoke those words was untrue and deceitful. The manner and the context imply the opposite of what the bare words on their own might be taken to mean.

McConnell is an asshole, and, once again, this effort to question Obama’s birthplace and/or religion is evil. Our nation will be paying for this for many years to come. And when future historians write about the reasons for the fall of the once well-meaning American empire, this will be prime evidence.

E-voting machine hacked

Found this on Brad Blog. A Sequoia electronic voting machine was hacked by good guys to prove the vulnerability of such machines. They replaced the voting screen with Pac-Man. And they did it without violating the “temper-evident” seals!
