Crawling toward the sunlight

Drifting in need of distraction

I’ve been listening to the audio book of Rachel Maddow’s new book, Drift. Good stuff, not surprisingly, but thus far it’s been describing what feels like Alice’s long, long fall down the rabbit hole. She promised that it won’t all be depressing, but thus far it’s not been a happy tale.

Incidentally, she’s reading her own book, which I like.

While listening to Maddow’s tale of the steady usurpation of power by, well, the “military-executive duplex” I’ve been playing with Photoshop. I took the photo of the mushroom in our backyard. The girl is a stock photo.

Incidentally, I was thinking of Picasso’s Old Guitarist, from his “blue period,” when I cropped and composited the image this way. What would happen if the girl tried to straighten her head? Would she bump her noggin? Or would the noggin just disappear into nothingness?
