New Right-Wing Mantra: “Forget love! Make war and [white] babies.”

They tried selling their destructive, racist and plutocratic policies.

The public rejected those policies.

They tried changing their “messaging.”

The public saw through the subterfuge.

They tried cheating and voter suppression.

It backfired.

Now…?

They’re going to breed a new electorate of ideologically “correct” or easily manipulated WHITE voters.

What a difference two decades makes. Those who blasted African Americans with large families as the bane of our society now insist it’s Americans patriotic duty to have more (undereducated, white) children.  This time it’s a real crisis. Minorities, just years from becoming the majority, aren’t voting Republican.

At least the authors of this Daily Beast piece asked actual women how they feel about childbearing, and the tensions between making a living, getting by in a city, and being treated like a “womb on legs,” in the memorable words of one of the interviewees.

Here’s an example of what Trehan is talking about, the article from The Wall Street Journal referenced:

America’s Baby Bust

The nation’s falling fertility rate is the root cause of many of our problems. And it’s only getting worse.

By Jonathan Last

Which leaves us with outsourcing our fertility. We’ve received a massive influx of immigrants from south of the border since the late 1970s. Immigration has kept America from careening over the demographic cliff. Today, there are roughly 38 million people in the U.S. who were born elsewhere. (Two-thirds of them are here legally.) To put that in perspective, consider that just four million babies are born annually in the U.S.

If you strip these immigrants—and their relatively high fertility rates—from our population profile, America suddenly looks an awful lot like continental Europe, which has a fertility rate of 1.5., if not quite as demographically terminal as Japan.

Relying on immigration to prop up our fertility rate also presents several problems, the most important of which is that it’s unlikely to last.

Does this sound at all familiar? It reminded me of policies and programs introduced in Germany in the 1930s, so I did a quick search. Here’s what I found at the Holocaust Museum site:

Women played a vital role in Adolf Hitler’s plan to create an ideal German Community (Volksgemeinschaft). Hitler believed a larger, racially purer population would enhance Germany’s military strength and provide settlers to colonize conquered territory in eastern Europe. The Third Reich’s aggressive population policy encouraged “racially pure” women to bear as many “Aryan” children as possible.

This policy took its most radical form in 1936 when SS leaders created the state-directed program known as Lebensborn (Fount of Life). In an extension of the SS Marriage Order of 1932, the 1936 Lebensborn ordinance prescribed that every SS member should father four children, in or out of wedlock. Lebensborn homes sheltered illegitimate offspring and their mothers, provided birth documents and financial support, and recruited adoptive parents for the children.

Now don’t get your knickers in a knot! I’m not calling anyone a Nazi!! However, I am suggesting this is not the first time in modern history that we’ve seen a movement on the right calling for government by those who are racially “pure” and racially “superior.” And I am suggesting that it’s wrong, wherever it shows up and however it’s rationalized.
