H/T Dependable Renegade!
Now, I know I have a dirty mind and all — but the imagery in this comment is, well, interesting:
“Everybody misfires once in a while,” Palin shrugged. “In the GOP establishment, you know what I’ve found, Greta? Sometimes you’re the Louisville Slugger, sometimes you’re the ball. And evidently in these last months — per many, many comments from those within the GOP establishment — I’m the ball.”
Yes, Dr. Freud. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar (even when Rush Limbaugh is sucking on it). And sometimes a bat is just a bat, even when paired with a ball. And a shotgun, even in the context of other phallic symbols, is just a shotgun. Either a shotgun or a phallus can fail to discharge properly, and maybe figuratively a bat can as well (foul tip?). But this is still a very strange combination of images.

Labor and progressive singer/songwriter Anne Feeney is selling this tee-shirt. Now, being who I am, I would probably have said “Fallopians 4:33.” Why? Because the the bright pink tee-shirt shouts so loudly, and 4:33 is the title of the John Cage composition that consists of 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence. I like that sort of ironic inside joke.

Not to be insulting, but just in case…
The original “Enigma Machine” was an encoding device used by the Germans during WW II. The English captured one from a German submarine, without the German command’s realizing it. Thence forward, not automatically, but with the help of the big-brained men and women at Bletchley Park (including Alan Turing), the English could read German communications. Crucial to winning the Battle of the Atlantic, neutralizing the submarine threat.
Moment of nerd concluded. Just wanted to make sure the title of the following made sense.
