Since according to these folks it is our President who has divided the country, I thought it was really significant how many minority folks were represented at this gathering.

Damn straight, Dr. D. Once again you demonstrate the stunning courage necessary to go after those Victorian bastards. :P

In all seriousness though, my mother often comments upon this same phenomenon; both in her professional life and most noticably on the late night comedy shows. If Tom Cruise shows up on Leno, Leno shakes his hand. If Scarlet Johannsen shows up on his show, he kisses her on the cheek and hugs her. Which again, she may or may not like-but the same assumption is still in place. Women want to be kissed and hugged, men want their hands shaken.
Of course, this ties into a million different assumptions about the fundamental nature of men and women, all of which are pretty damn sexist.

Well as you know I agree with you on issues like this one.

The good news is (at least here in Michigan) when I contact my daughter's high school to question what would happen with history books they informed me that changes such as claiming Joe McCarthy was a "good American" will not be tolerated nor allowed in our classrooms or text books because inaccuracies such as that would cause the text books to fail to meet the state guidelines.

When that happens (I am told) they seek textbooks that meet the guidelines that are outside the normal vendors.

I think in end this will be resolved based on parental complaints and concerns.

The downside of course is that states such as Texas that are already backward will become even more so.

Great post thanks for it.

Obama was on the board of the Annenberg Foundation which funds FactCheck.com. Factcheck.com has no credibility. Factcheck.net is as bogus as Obama

Ironically, I just came in from dumping a lot of kitchen leftovers into our composter. I have everything I need in the garage, and next week I'm going to build a raised-bed garden. Just 3 x 6 feet, but I don't want to take on more than I can handle physically. Good to hear from you.
